Knowing others is wisdom
Knowing the self is enlightenment
Mastering others requires force
Mastering the self needs strength
Laozi, Daodejing

Since embarking on qigong as part of my strategy to battle prostate cancer, I needed to take a broader look at its philosophy and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in general. This book fulfills this need and then some.
The pedigree of the authors is reassuring.
Dr Bisong Guo trained in western medicine and TCM in China. She has studied qigong intensively with Daoist monks and Buddhist masters. She teaches qigong in the United Kingdom, Europe and the USA.
Dr Andrew Powell graduated with distinction in medicine and specialised in psychiatry and psychotherapy. He has held consultant and academic posts in the UK.
Listen To Your Body demonstrates the practical application of ancient wisdom developed over 5,000 years. It shows in easy to read chapters how to promote health and natural wellbeing. How to modify everyday actions to improve the flow of qi (the universal flow of energy). Breathing, eating, drinking, resting, washing and other small vital actions - if carried out the right way - can result in profound changes to body functions.
Just reading this book should convince many people to rethink current lifestyle. It shows us that there is an alternative to getting in hock to the drug giants at every hint of bodily misbehaviour.
