This is Al's wife, Faith. Recently Al's prostate cancer spread to his spine, his body became overwhelmed and he died last Thursday. He had been in great pain but he slipped away gently like the true, free jazz spirit he is.
Now I'm sure he's out there bopping, keeping the angels on their toes and swapping hints on the best way to photograph clouds.
This blog is an amazing gift to us all - but Al's greatest legacy is love.
I'm so sorry to hear this. I've spoken to Al many times via email but
never had the opportunity to meet him.
I am soo sorry to learn that Faith. I truly miss you both. There seems to
be a huge gap on this island since you and Al left. I will always have this
picture of him, shyly waitng on the sidelines while you were talking with
people and signing books, so secretly but immensely proud of you. You both
helped me thru a very awkward time of my life and helped me heal in the way
that only true friends and true love do. I am eternally grateful. Aliki
Dear Faith,
I am so sorry to hear this. I have not been into the blogs for awhile. You
sounded like such a wonderful couple. I am glad that you had a loving
husband. May his love enfold you and give you peace. Love never leaves.
Something made me search for Albert's callsign tonight - G4FMK - in the
hope of making contact again, and I was very sad to learn that my friend
from the past is now a silent key.
Bethan and I are deeply saddened at your loss. You must have some wonderful
memories of life together on Kalymnos which are irreplaceable and unique.
Our thoughts are with you. It would be nice to meet up as we are only just
down the road in Kennington Regards Phil and Bethan
